Brides Top 5 Wedding Day Fears Revealed
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, March 29, 2011 – Laura Pepper, author of Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days reveals brides top 5 fears surrounding the wedding day. With the busy-ness and stress of wedding planning, looking and feeling great on her wedding day is no piece of cake for the bride to be.
With TV shows like Bridezilla & Whose Wedding is it Anyway?, there is a growing awareness of how stressful wedding planning has become, and how this stress is taking it’s toll on brides to be. As well as putting a strain on her relationships, it is affecting a brides dreams of looking and feeling fantastic on what is deemed the most important day of her life – in short, wedding planning is compromising these ideals.
For her new book Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days, author Laura Pepper interviewed hundreds of brides-to-be as well as newly weds about their wedding day experiences. Using her own stressful wedding planning experience as inspiration, she was interested in learning how stress and a never ending ‘to-do’ list was affecting the brides health, appearance and mental well-being. Here are the top 5 concerns that these brides reported in their surveys, which prompted Laura to write the book;
5. Being stressed out & unable to enjoy the day.
“Sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel”, one bride commented. And some brides are fearing that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Much like the hostess that can’t enjoy her own party, some brides are worrying that on the day she will be so caught up trying to please everyone and worrying about the details, that she won’t have time to reflect on the importance and magic of the day.
4. Feeling ill.
The immune system is compromised during times of stress, lack of sleep and poor nutrition. It is no surprise to learn then that brides and grooms who have been non-stop during the engagement process, on top of their regular schedules, are prone to catch a cold or flu before or just after the wedding day. Feeling ill came in at biggest fear number four – brides revealed that not feeling great on the day when all eyes were on her and a day and night of stamina was needed was one of her biggest worries.
3. Under eye circles.
Despite what most people think, under eye circles are not always related to a lack of sleep. They are highly hereditary, and become more common with age when the skin around the eye gets thinner. Sun exposure can also exasperate dark circles, as can allergies. However, being tired and exhausted can make you appear a shade paler, and this will make dark circles stand out. Brides wanted to know how, through diet, lifestyle and makeup, dark circles could be eliminated from their wedding day pictures. These dark circles came in at fear number 3.
We all know how zits can arise from a lack of sleep and too much stress. In fact the skin is one of the first places to display stress – the body moves circulation away from the skin to support the heart and muscle tissues, and this affects nutrient delivery and the overall complexion. Toxin flushing, digestion and hydration are all compromised, and this in turn becomes apparent on the skin. Having a ‘big red zit’ on the wedding day was number 2 on the brides biggest fears list. In addition, skin was the area brides were most willing to spend money on with regards to their pre-wedding appearance.
1. Not fitting into the dress. The wedding dress is perhaps the most symbolic physical item of the brides day, so it is not a surprise that so many brides were concerned with fitting into it! Surveyed brides reported that the busy-ness of wedding planning was making it a challenge to stay trim though – ordering take-out was easy when there was no time to cook, exercise was on the back burner at the end of an exhausting and jam-packed day, and comfort eating crept up in times of stress. Learning how to eat right, minimize comfort-eating, and find an achievable workout program is essential in order to calm bride to be’s fears.
Unsurprisingly, brides reported spending the most money with regards to pre-wedding regimes on teeth, skin, hair and nails.
The average amount of time brides wished to start their pre-wedding health, beauty and well being was 4 months before the wedding day. However newly weds actually reported spending 44 days on their entire regime. It seems that many brides underestimate how time consuming and energy zapping the logistical planning is and don’t leave enough time for themselves!
Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days takes all the effort out of looking beautiful, healthy and staying stress free with a customizable plan for brides to follow in the 30 days leading up to the wedding.
