Time to talk about the power of makeup!

For Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days, I had the pleasure of working with and interviewing Elaine Chou of E Chou bridal makeup, Temple City, California who, by the way, is an absolute sweetie.

I found Elaine through Project Wedding (definitely a site all brides to be should bookmark). Brides review their experiences with vendors on Project Wedding, and Elaine had an amazing record of 5 stars with 107 reviews! Brides could not stop gushing about her work and I knew that I had to meet this woman to see what all the fuss was about!

I think pictures are the best way to do her amazing work justice. Below are some of the before and after pictures of her clients – showcasing her hair and makeup skills:

Isn’t her work incredible? All photos courtesy of EChouMakeUp.com

In the makeup section of Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days, Elaine talks us through a step by step guide to DIY bridal makeup. She tells us why and how bridal makeup is different to everyday makeup, how to avoid shine in pictures and how to keep it lasting all day – through sweat and tears!

She also tells us the secrets to hiding and accentuating your best and worst features, and has the eye of a true artist when it comes to making each bride truly look a beautiful, polished, glowing version of themselves.

Whether you are having a professional do your makeup (seriously, if you are in LA I strongly recommend Elaine!!), or going the DIY route (see her tips in the book), check out this post for the things to remember either way.

To find other great make up pro’s, I recommend checking out review sites to find out what experience brides have had with potential vendors. You want someone who is not only talented with hair and make up, but also someone reliable, punctual and able to set the mood off right. When my hair stylist turned up at my house on the morning of the wedding with a bottle of champagne, and 20 minutes early, I knew I’d chosen the right gal.

Because fellow bride’s reviews are really the only way to go, here is a list of sites you might find useful to find hair and make up artists in your area;
